"We had nowhere to go but up. Still, up is not an easy direction. It defies gravity." "I wanted them to have as much fun from nine to five every day at work as they did from five to nine every night at home." "I am absolutely convinced that with good leadership, freedom does not weaken discipline - it strengthens it. Free people have a powerful incentive not to screw up." "Trust is a kind of jujitsu: You have to earn it, and you earn trust only by giving it."
"Articulating the feelings that your people are afraid to speak is a large part of what leaders, including ship captains, do for a living."
"Having fun with your friends creates infinitely more social glue for any organization than stock options and bonuses will ever provide."

Abrashoff er i dag leder og grundlægger af Grassroots Leadership, Inc.
Jeg blev opmærksom på bogen gennem Ole Bechs anmeldelse i Version2. Jeg lånte bogen på bibliotek.dk.
